Paradise is where the heart is

BENNINGTON -- The prints on wood are wonderfully warm, lovingly tender, full of whimsey.

The girl on the bike with its inspirational message is my favorite. A friend and ex-newspaper colleague up in the Upper Valley also loved the adventurous bike girl when one arrived last summer, and I wrote something about it vis-a-vis her personal-professional conundrum.

At its heart the piece explored dreams and happiness and whether you'll let someone else decide if you're allowed to follow them to experience it. She let someone else guilt her into a decision: she said No to the adventure of a lifetime.

The decision haunted her for a good long time.

But a funny thing happened: Dream Job opened up again 6 months later. They called and asked her to bring the family to Coastal Paradise.

She said No, again. But this time she made the decision.

Indeed, and I just had an interesting Facebook exchange with her (for real!).

She wrote: I decided not to. And we were up there for vacation for the past week + and I still felt good about my choice -- so we're on the right track. We're opening a restaurant here in the UV!
